Theodore Ereira-guyer

Theodore Ereira-Guyer is an Artist based both in London (UK) and Lisbon (PT). He works predominantly in the fields of print, sculpture and photography. He studied at Byam Shaw, Central St. Martins College of Art and Design (London), Norwich University of the Arts followed by Royal College of Art (London) between 2012 and 2014. He is currently a Tutor in Print at the Art Academy, London. Ereira-Guyer has exhibited internationally and his work is held in private and public collections including the Victoria and Albert Museum and the British Museum among others. He was the recipient of the Helen Chadwick Award for multidisciplinary artists and his artist book A Human Concerto was selected for the catalogue of the acclaimed showcase Kaleid Editions. Ereira-Guyer’s practice refers to knowledge that is not heuristically available through experience; to what happens when the objects of knowledge are removed from the human gaze but still activate a form of remembrance and agency. Since 2016 he has been a PhD researcher in Contemporary Art at the Universidade de Coimbra; continuing his research exploring the role of the personal, empiricist and poetic in historical events through the method, serendipity and responses of his art practice. This has been traced through events and strains of thought emerging from the colonisation of the new world. What is the role of the Artist’s practice in uncovering multiple historical narratives? www.theodoreereira-guyer.co.uk
